My little Persian

Memory From:
Karen, UK, My little Persian

I've always been a cat lover and when i was growing up i was never allowed one, my mother was on her own and there was no way she could afford to keep animals. I met my husband at the age of 38 and the first gift from him was a tiny blue- grey persian, i remember him walking in one day after work, i was still angry at him for forgetting our 1 year annerversary, he told me he had a supprise for me, i went into the lounge and he was holding something under his jacket, out poped this little kitten she was beautiful and from then she was a big part of our lives and all was forgiven. We named her jessica. As she got older she dicovered the school children who used to walk passed the house at 8:30 and then again at 3:30. Then one day i noticed how she used to go outside at these times and sit on the wall to recieve attention from the school kids. We have many fond memories of her, she was very unique, stroppy at times but loved to socialise at house gatherings. She loved at
tention, a typical woman. unfortunately she passed away in 2000, but she will never be forgotten.

My First Love

Memory From: Scott , USA, My First Love
My First Love and my holiday romance

I was 16 and went on holiday with my parents to Mexico to an all inclusive holiday , my parents had decided to allow me a lot more freedom than I had ever had before , and I met a girl who was the same age and from Seatle called Kay who I fell in love with we spent every waking moment together and I was sure it was love.

It was like walking on water and my parents and her parents seemed not to mind, when we finished the holiday we both said we would continue our relationship by writing and phoning but over just a month it fizzled out . that was over 10 years ago and I still remember that holiday and what first love felt like.

My Encounter with a Bear

Memory From:
Jess , United States,My Encounter with a Bear
I was hiking on a trail in Minnesota and suddenly I heard a crashing noise in the undergrowth and then no more than 20ft away was a big black bear , I had read plenty of times about what to do in the case of meeting a bear so instead of running away I shouted at it as loud as I could in my most commanding tone of voice: 'Shoo! Get out of here, bear! Go on! Get away!' and clapped my hands,

the bear didn't move and just stood there glaring at me, at that point I was not sure if all the things I had been told would work and panic was not far away which would mean I would do the completely wrong thing and run, then thankfully it turned and ran back into the bush.

I do not think I have ever been so scared in my life as I was at the moment that the bear just looked at me .

First Day at school

Memory From:
Caroline, USA, First Day at school

I have just taken my son off for his first day of school and this started me remembering my first day at school,
The first real memory I have is of the first day at kindergarten, the memory is faded and I am remembering the best I can.

The day after Labor Day was my first day at kindergarten and my mother walked my brother and I the 5 blocks to School ( we lived in New York City ) , I am one of 2 twins and both my brother and I were starting that day , my brother was excited and couldn't wait to start but I hated it from the day I realised I would not be at home , even the doors seemed daunting and scary as we entered and I can remember thinking my mother would not come back for us and we would be there forever.

Once we started playing I felt a little happier but not as happy as when I saw my mother there to collect me in the afternoon, Remembering that I spent a long time telling me son I would be there to collect him from school.

growing up in Malta

Memory From: Steve, United Kingdom, Growing up in Malta,

In 1958 my dad was in the Royal Navy and was sent with his ship to Malta, The posting was called Married / Accompanied so my mum and my brother and I lived in Malta for 3 years, It was a fantastic time for my brother and I as we lived in a Town called Mosta , it would take us about 1 hr to walk to the nearest beach which was Salini Bay where we would spend nearly every day swimming and hanging out. We lived above a hardware shop which was 3 shops down from the local bakery and every afternoon my first job was to go and collect the hot loaf of bread.

For a kid it was a wonderful place to grow up with the sun and beach and a very carefree life. Because we walked to the beach each day we were always finding injured animals which we would take home to my mum, they ranged from dogs to kestrel and everything in between which my mum would nurse back to health

car accident in attleboro

mariah and desirae, USA, car accident in attleboro

i remember when my dad told me about his car accident in 1976. he said he was driving in attleboro with his brother and it was a nice day. they were talking and having a good time. then a curve came into veiw and they couldnt stop the car in time. SMASH, they hit the curve and the car smashed into a telephone pole, causing the wires to snap in half and electric sparks to fly everywhere. my dads brother was injured but not as bad as he was. the curve on the side of the road was lifted up offf the road itself and everything grew silent. my dads brother looked over and saw him bloody and in very serious condition. he was shocked and he started to cry. a few minutes later the ambulance came and my dad was transported to boston in a plane. he arived there in a coma. he broke 30 different bones including his colar bone and alot of bones in his left leg. he stayed at the hospital for 12 months and he was told by the doctors that he may never walk on his own again. he went back to his karate dojo and trained everyday 2x a day and he was soon able to walk on his own again. he is almost my personal hero ♥mariah and desirae
